Warsaw Christmas Market 2025 — A New Winter Village at Plac Defilad
Discover Warsaw’s new Christmas Market (Jarmark Warszawski) at Plac Defilad — from 28 November 2025 to 1 January 2026. A festive winter village with 160 wooden cottages, Poland’s largest Ferris wheel, an open-air cinema, lights, flavours, and the holiday spirit the capital has long been waiting for.

New Christmas Market in the centre
For years, Warsaw’s Christmas spirit never quite matched the scale of a capital city — a few stalls by the Barbican, festive corners at the Old Town, the scent of mulled wine and lights scattered through the centre. Charming, yes, but not truly festive on the scale that Warsaw deserves. This year, Warsaw gets its moment.
Plac Defilad — ... will transform into a full-scale Warsaw Christmas Market. A true holiday village in the heart of the city, finally giving Warsaw what it has long missed...
In two weeks, from 28 November 2025 to 1 January 2026, Plac Defilad — the square at the foot of the Palace of Culture and Science — will transform into a full-scale Warsaw Christmas Market. A true holiday village in the heart of the city, finally giving Warsaw what it has long missed: space, light, and a sense of shared celebration.
Light, scent, and sound

The market will also feature Poland’s largest Ferris wheel, offering panoramic views of the city...
For a month, the square will glow with wooden cottages, thousands of fairy lights, and the scent of cinnamon, gingerbread, and cloves drifting through the cold air each day. There will be 160 stalls filled with food, hot drinks, local crafts, and entertainment.
The market will also feature Poland’s largest Ferris wheel, offering panoramic views of the city, along with a playful twist on the usual Christmas icon — the (not so) Saint Nicholas — and a festive soundtrack filling the air from morning until late evening.
This year also brings something new: a winter open-air cinema presented by Kinoteka. From 29 November to 30 December, a cosy “Cinema under the Christmas Tree” (Kino pod Choinką) will screen films in the very heart of the market — an atmospheric outdoor cinema with free entry and limited seating. Tuesdays will feature films for adults, while Saturdays are dedicated to the youngest viewers.
Festive winter time
Expectations are high — at least mine — and I think that’s reasonable. After years of smaller, modest fairs, Warsaw’s residents have long waited for something meaningful, something that could truly capture the magic of the season. Hopefully, this year’s market will deliver that long-awaited feeling of Christmas — a place to meet, to taste, and to share.
Stop for local food, the scent of gingerbread and mulled wine, share a moment with family or friends, or simply talk to strangers, listen to festive music, and enjoy being part of the city’s rhythm. It’s about joining the festive atmosphere that cities across Poland and Europe celebrate every year — that winter moment when everything slows, glows, and connects.
We count down the days to the New Year, reflecting on what’s passed and quietly believing in what’s ahead. A little romantic — as winter holidays should be.
